To have faith in others requires trust. Trust in another person. Trust that they will do what they say. Unfortunately these days faithfulness is not a character trait that many seek to have. Our society expects unfaithfulness, and it is organised on that basis. Yet the scripture tells us that faithfulness is a part of who God is. 2 Timothy 2:13 says,
if we are faithless, he remains faithful — for he cannot deny himself.
We learn to trust the character of a person we know well. (We would not trust a stranger with our banking details!) Before I came to know God, I was afraid to trust Him. But I learnt to trust God by getting to know what He is like. When you trust God with the little things, you will learn to trust Him more and more as He always proves to be faithful.
God made a promise thousands of years ago that if we would seek Him with all our heart and all our soul, we will find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). That promise is still true today! I know so because I have experienced that promise fulfilled. Have you?
