All of us will go through the heartache and turmoil of grief in our lives.  It is an experience none of us can avoid. As Christians we have a wonderful hope beyond death in this life. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13) True hope takes away our fear of death but it doesn’t take away our deep feelings of loss, and sorrow, and grief.

When Jesus went to see Lazarus’ family at his death, Jesus knew what He would do as well as the final outcome. Yet when He saw them weeping, “Jesus was deeply moved in His Spirit and greatly troubled … and Jesus wept.” (John 11:33-35). God has made us to love and weep, and we feel these emotions very deeply. May God make each of us a comfort to those who are grieving as God comforts us in our times of grief.
