Anybody who has ever been in a serious conflict knows only too well how all-consuming it is. It saps our time, thoughts, energy and diminishes our resilience and ability to reach out to others. It’s like a cancer of the soul.
What is true at the personal level is true corporately. The organisation or church that’s obsessed with it’s ‘competitors’ looses it’s focus and ability to focus on it’s reason for being and ability to serve others.
And yet conflict can be productive if it helps us to work out better ways of being and doing what God has given us to be and do. It gets down to how we use the opportunity. Is it going to be destructive or constructive? Whether it makes us bitter or better depends on how godly we are through the process of dealing with it. Let’s focus on God and his glory as we deal with the conflicts that come our way.
