When I first became a Christian, it was incredible to know that I was saved simply by putting my faith in Jesus Christ. But having become a Christian by faith, I now had to live a Christian life by doing the right thing. You are saved by faith, but you grow in Christlikeness by obeying God. You start by faith and complete it by works. At least, that’s what I thought.
But as I grew in my understanding of God by reading and studying the bible, I could see that becoming a Christian was not by just a one-off act of faith. Not only do you begin by faith—you live by faith as well. It is a life of total dependency on God, His grace, and His love.
And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ~Galatians 2:20b
